Biography

Native of Paris, Thierry grew up fascinated with vinyl records, the rich sounds of world music, and the history and culture discovered throughout his travels. Finding a new home in Baja California since the 2020 pandemic, Thierry dedicates his craft to the local gastronomy and wine scene, pairing his music collection to the flavors of local chefs and winemakers.

Aside from his work as DJ, Thierry Jean continues his research in ethnomusicology (RastaPastaRecords, EU | US), working in Event Production (HiFi5 Entertainment, SoCal), and Artist Management (Eternal Order, LA). His most recent project (Café Melotrón, Ensenada, MX) will be opening in the second quarter of 2023.

When not on the road digging for records, you can visit his residency Mondays at Villa Torel‘s industry night “Liernes” with chef Alfredo Villanueva, first Friday of every month at Café Melotrón, as well as many other establishments, pop-up events, and festivals, throughout Southern and Baja California.
